Hi,
I am sure that you may have heard that a second wave Swine flu has started. Governments are now stock piling vaccines, and we hear that the UK for instance will shortly have enough to vaccinate the entire population of the UK twice. The great concern however is whether any of us should be prepared to take the vaccine at all.
Many believe that it has not been properly tested because it has been rushed out. There is also a very disturbing report from Austria by Jane Burgermeister a medical journalist/researcher who has found evidence that one of the major pharmaceurical laboratories (Baxter) have contaminated swine flu vaccine with live bird flu virus. The inference here is one of profit, and the consequences of taking the contaminated vaccine could apparently be very serious, possible even fatal.
Let us hope that the second wave of Swine flu does not materialise, because if the World Health Organisation declares a pandemic then mass vaccination will result and if people do not take the vaccine, voluntarily, then compulsory vacination will take place. I will certainly refuse it as I hope will anybody I know. After all the swine flu is apparently no less severe than a normal bout of winter flu and sometimes even less severe.
I do not like putting up a blog post that is so gloomy, but I do feel that it is important to know the existence of disquiet about the Swine flu vaccine. I would urge everyone to think very care fully before considering a swine flu vaccination. Take Care!

Hi,
Refreshing news this week of an Irish company who are turning waste plastic into diesel fuel. This idea is not new in that other companies are also turning plastic into diesel fuel, however what is completely different with this Irish company is that their process is completlely environmentally friendly and they have evidence to prove it.
Currently Ireland exports much of its plastic, so this is good news and a recycling first in that the process causes no emisions. As far as I am aware much of the plastic we use today is manufactured using oil, so in that sence it is not totally environmentally, but nonetheless very much to be welcomed. What we need now if for someone to develop a completely new fuel that can be used on existing vehicles and does not polute.

Hi,
last time I wrote in my blog about a move to restrict natural health products ( Codex Alimentatius) by governments and the World Trade Organisation. I mentioned that the Pharmaceutical lobby were pushing for this legislation, and that the remaining natural products after codex Alimentarius would be under the control of some of the major pharmaceutical companies.
Unfortunately the Bad news this week is that the worlds largest drugs maker has just been fined £1.4 billion by US authorities for fraudulently mis-selling its treatments. How Sick is that? Apparently this organisation were offering kickbacks to doctors, consultants, healthcare administrators and other professionals. Methods included 5 star luxury all expenses paid trips to exotic destinations for them and their families. It gets worse this organisation admits to improperly marketing 13 different medicines.
That means making false claims about their effectiveness for treating certain conditions. Yet this type of company may if governments and the WTO get their way be dictating exactly what kind of product we can use to treat our medical conditions. I think that we must resist all attempts to restrict our freedom to choose to treat ourselves with herbs/vitamins and mineral supplements as we see fit. Of course they must be manufactured to the highest standards but not by disreputable pharmaceutical companies who are only interested in large profits.

Hi,
Codex Alimentarius is a new law which will restrict the choice of presently freely available herb/vitamin/mineral food supplements. It appears that the law is designed to hand over control of natural remedies to the major pharmaceutical companies, under the guise of protecting and regulating us.
Apparently Codex Alimentarius is a law that will officially cover all foods, whether processed, semi- processed or raw, but far more attention has been given to foods (including supplements) that are marketed directly to consumers. Additionally the Codex Alimentarius covers matters such as food labelling, food hygiene, food additives and pesticide residues, and procedures for assessing the safety of foods derived from modern biotechnology. It also contains guidelines for the management of official (i.e., governmental) import and export inspection and certification systems for foods.
Whilst we all desire a greater degree of safety in food products and supplements, very many of the existing herbal/vitamin/mineral supplements are already manufactured to pharmaceutical standards. Obviously the massive increase in the use of natural food supplements over recent years really worries the pharmaceutical industry, hence I suspect the hand of the pharmaceutical lobbyists in pushing for this law.
What this will mean in countries where the law is passed is that food supplements will have to be manufactured under the contol of pharmaceutical companies, they will be low dose and expensive. Pharmaceutical companies always test natural products in low dose form so that the results will be poor, and thus they can discredit the supplement.
This codex Alimentarius law will eventually be binding to all countries who have entered into agreements with the World Trade Organisation. I don’t know about you but I certainly want to be able to continue to be able to have the choice to use herbs/vitamins and mineral supplements as I see fit. After all we know that pharmaceutical drugs are not always the answer for everybody for every condition. We know that the pharmaceutical industry cannot make a profit on natural products, and hence they would like all natural products to be banned.
I would urge you to join a petition to ban this Codex Alimentarius law in your country as I have done here in the UK. We must have freedom to choose natural products as an alternative to pharmaceuticals.

Hi,
I am sure we have all heard about the destruction of rain forrests in different parts of the world, which of course contributes to global warming since the trees absorb carbon dioxide. If we continue to destroy trees at the present rate and persist with such a high consumption of fossil fuels, then many believe we will destroy our planet.
Today we hear that scientists in the United Kingdom have developed an artificial tree that will absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide far greater than any tree that we grow. They predict that unless we curtail our use of fossil fuels then our countryside could well in the future be covered with these ugly objects in order to try and save the planet.
Governments throughout the world all talk about green initiatives, but none of them encourage the development of alternatives to fossil fuels. They talk about battery vehicles, but we all know that is not the answer. Sadly they all have a vested interest in continued use of fossil fuels due to the high tax revenue they derive from them.
Surely the answer is to develop a new fuel that does not polute the atmosphere, and which can be used in existing vehicles. Biofuel is not an answer any more than battery power, as it makes use of crops. Hydrogen power is being developed, but that sounds dangerous as it may be explosive and does not make use of existing engines. If we could reduce the power of the oil companies and desire of governments for revenue from fossil fuels, then I am sure we could see the develoment of a fuel that would save the planet.
