Reduce energy bills with Renewable energy resources, Get fit and lead a naturally healthy life

  • Hi,

It seems that there is a use for old coal seams in that Methane gas can be released from the water that is present in the seams. Apparently this water is brought to the surface and the Methane gas is then extracted and used in a power station to provide electricity for homes.

There are lots of old coal seams throughout the UK  and natural fractures in the coal provide pathways for water to drain out so gas is released for collection at the surface. This is not new form of energy, as coal bed methane (CBM) is  already one of the fastest growing forms of energy in America and Australia.

To date just one company that I know of is tapping this source. IGAS, well done to them. North Sea gas is rapidly running out and apparently it is claimed that CBM is squeaky clean and its calorific value is better than the gas currently in the national grid.

  • Hi,

Good News! The new coalition Government in the UK plans to promote a multi-billion pound industry converting waste into energy with the aim of providing 4% of the country’s energy needs within ten years.

The plan is to use anaerobic digestion plants. Apparently these are large containers that can be fed food waste, maize slurry and sewage. This plant and animal material is digested by micro-organisms which releases methane. this can then be used to provide light and heat.

It is hoped that this method could supply two million homes with power. There have already been anaerobic digestion plants on farms for many years., and it is hoped that if a viable anaeobic digestion industry is developed, that it will not only provide energy , but also may solve the problem of landfill sites which is a growing one.

  • Hi,
We received some bad news here in the UK yesterday in that apparently the power companies have decided to take advantage of the prolonged cold spell resulting in increased energy demand by raising their prices.

Personally I think that this is a cynical exercise, and smacks of profiteering. After all we are only now just edging out of recession and most people are still feeling the pinch. Now more than ever it is important to try and make sure that our homes are energy efficient.

Now is the time to develop good habits in the home and refrain from leaving those electrical appliances on standby. It really does make a difference. If you are unsure of how to save energy in your home why not just grab my free report to the right of this page. It outlines the no cost measures you can take as well as the low cost measures.
